Who am I, and What is An Artful Mom About?

Whether you think you are creative or not, I hope you find inspiration here. Everyone has the ability to express themself creatively in some way. That’s what An Artful Mom is about.

I’m Pam, a wife, mom to two adult kids, reading tutor, and a seriously lacking (but not hopeless) follower of Jesus Christ.

An Artful Mom is an eclectic place, with creative ideas for your home and garden, art and craft projects, lettering, calligraphy, and journaling, photography, pets, and more. Whew, that’s a lot! This is my own online magazine, where everyone is welcome. I hope you’ll find a creative project or idea here that inspires you.

I’m an introvert, but I love to make connections, and this is a safe place to do that. So, I would love for you to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or by email, so that we can stay connected!  Contact me at pam@anartfulmom.com.

My family, my heart: My husband with me, my daughter with her husband, my son, and Sunny

A few factoids about me:

  • In high school, I was so shy I was often thought to be “stuck up.”  Ouch!  The funny thing about that is, I never had the self confidence to be stuck up, even if I had wanted to be!  These days, I’m the quiet one who can’t stop talking once you get to know me.
  • I’m terrified of public speaking, but my job right before I had my kids required presentations to medical professionals on a regular basis.  Way outside of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it!  Confident on the outside, shaking on the inside.
  • My degree is in Psychology (and at one point I had planned to be a school psychologist), a minor in Speech Pathology, and I completed teacher training, with an emphasis on learning disabilities, while a “stay at home mom.” (As you can probably tell, I wasn’t extremely decisive when I was young. Not even slightly decisive. Or maybe I just liked too many things. Or both!)
  • We have a sweet, sweet Yorkie named Sunny who was a rescue from a puppy-mill. She is really my daughter’s dog, but she figured out who the mom is, so both my daughter and I are her “favored ones.” Because of Sunny, I became a strong advocate of pet adoption and rescue organizations.

Much of the photography here is my own. I love photography, with a capital LOVE.  (I have even made a few dollars from it.)

Also, some of the posts at the blog (especially in the Home/ Garden and Food sections), are guest posts, written by outside sources. I choose the posts based on whether my readers will find them useful or interesting.
