Thursday Favorite Things #432

Welcome to the Thursday Favorite Things Link Party!

I hope you all are staying well and have had a good week, despite all of the upheaval that this virus has caused.

Several of our grocery stores are having early hours for those who are 60 and older or are immune compromised. I’m 63, so I am, thankfully, allowed to go at that time. I can tell you, I’m so grateful for this perk of being “older.”

I went to the grocery store today, during the early hour for people over 60.  Many of the people there were quite a bit older than I am, and while most people were smiley,  a few people were very abrasive. One lady, who looked to be in her 70s, growled at me that I was too close to her.  One woman was glaring at me (maybe because my cart was pretty full, but I didn’t have multiples.)  At first, I felt hurt, but then I realized how frightened so many of these older people must be. It’s a scary time, especially for those who are elderly, and grace is so important to give.  May we all give each other a little extra grace as we go through our days.

So, with that long drawn out intro, let’s get on with the party!

Here are my features from last week’s party:

DIY 10-Minute Easy Spring Succulent Wreath from Julie at My Wee Abode

How to Make the Best Homemade Moisturizer for Dry Winter Skin from It’s My Sustainable Life

Slow Cooker Chili from Hammers N Hugs

Keto Friendly Pizza Rolls from Moola Saving Mom

  1. Hi Pam,
I'm numbers 27-29 today. I'm sorry about your shopping experience! Last time I was out, I shopped around 6-8 p.m. at Walmart a week ago. It wasn't very busy. I do remember thinking that the teens with nowhere else to go shouldn't be there touching things they weren't going to buy…. sure enough, that's exactly what they were doing! My husband is still working so he is out and about more. We are still well stocked, thankfully! I hope this is soon over. It feels like house arrest on rainy days! Today looks sunny.

  2. My link ups this week are #58,59 and 60!!

  3. Thanks so much Pam! Those keto pizza rolls have me drooling! My son had the same experience at the grocery store last week when he was just buying the normal amount of weekly groceries for his family! They say not to go too often, but then people shame you for getting too much…Your attitude of kindness is what we all must have. My links are #68,69,70

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Jenna! I wish I had bought mozzarella and pepperoni at the store, yesterday, so I could make those pizza rolls today. I agree, they look so good!

  4. It's madness all around the world. I am trying my best to stay home, and avoid it all. I was fortunate that when it pretty much all started moving to the point of "we might be on shutdown", I stocked up on my groceries afraid the stores would be closed. All we can do is just hang in there. Best wishes!

This week I am sharing my new, adorable little carrot applique (#74), the garden marker I turned my applique into (#76), and one of my contributors beautiful necklaces (#77).

    1. Yes, madness like I've never seen! We're staying in here for the long term, too, now that I made my grocery run! Best wishes to you too!

  5. Hi Pam! Thank you for hosting and putting out the welcome mat for so many talented and heart-ful bloggers. The grocery store is an interesting universe these days. I was there a week and a half ago and have never experienced that level of despair in our town in the 21 years I have lived here. It was palpable. Empty shelves are not something we Americans are accustomed to so I think we have to adjust and not be frightened by what feels like scarcity. I'm sharing at #90, 92, and 93, and in my small way I want to uplift, keep our gaze on what is everlasting, and somehow radiate joy. Wishing you extra reserves of it this grey day on the prairie. And also peace. Right where you are. xox

    1. Hi Michele! Yes, such a good attitude you have, to keep your gaze on what is everlasting. I'm trying to remain joyful each day. Today is so sunny and beautiful here today, it's almost easy to forget the chaos all around. xox

  6. It's so easy to be short tempered right now because of stress, and take things personally. Way to go on turning that experience at the grocery store around and realizing where it was coming from – that's not easy to do especially when we're all stressed. Virtual hugs. Today I'm sharing #101 and #102.

  7. Hi Pam! Thanks for continuing to host during this crazy time. I shared 3 Easter posts #133-135. I'm 61 and at first was surprised to find my husband and I in the high risk group — I guess we are in denial for our age! Anyway, I have about 3 weeks worth of food and supplies — a lot of frozen veggies. Will run out of fresh fruits and salad ingredients in the next couple of days. But, we are staying out of the stores. My biggest concern are my sons who live in Manhattan and Philly. They are working from home, but it's crazy in terms of being able to shop for food in tiny markets never designed for people eating at home 3 meals a day, all week long.

    1. Thank you for being here, Debbee! I was exactly the same way at first–surprised to be in the high risk group! I said to my husband, "apparently, now I am elderly." Denial for sure. haha He is only 59, so he laughed at that. Best wishes to your sons. Hoping they stay safe.

  8. Thank you so much for the feature, Pam… I linked my wreath again, forgetting I had linked it last week! Oh well! I have a new cheesecake post this week… Hope people enjoy it. I'm at 169! 😉

  9. Thanks so much for hosting! I’m linking up today with WEED APPRECIATION DAY and WHAT WAS IT? (ANIMAL PROMPT 75 WORDS).

  10. Amen my friend. Yes we have the early hours available too. But unfortunately my hubby is working from home and his day starts with a 6am meeting. Please stay safe and well continue with your positive attitude. Lovely features this week. xo

    1. Thanks, Katherine! Hope you stay safe and well, too! Such a strange time. It really helps me to have this blog and this link party to keep my mind on positive things. I'm so glad I get to be a part of the party. xo

  11. Hi Pam, Visiting you at Thursday Favorite Things Link Party #432. Thanks for hosting. “Secrets to Selecting Top Fashion Colors to Flatter You (203)” is my offering this week. Please stay safe and well and have a great day.

  12. Our grocery stores are still pretty sparse so I'm grateful for what we still have at home, but still no toilet paper in sight. I'm sharing my spring mantel decor using thrift store finds, #23. 🙂

    1. I was so giddy the other day when there was tp on the shelf at my store! It was kind of funny to be so excited over toilet paper! Thanks for sharing today.

  13. It is always nice to find a perk of being a Senior Citizen – right!?! Although I am not quite there, I think that it is very nice that the stores are doing this for the Seniors. Thank you for hosting the party. Our links this week are: #220, #221, & #222.
