Ways to Spend More Time with Your Teen
If you have a teen, you may be wondering if you’re spending enough time with him or her. It’s a question that we parents might all ask ourselves at one point or another, and yet there is no definitive answer. There is no measure of hours that defines how much ‘enough time’ is.
If you think that you could be spending more time with your teen, you might need some tips for how to get that time in. Having that bonding time with parents is important to teenagers, even if your teen thinks that it’s uncool to admit it.
In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the things that you can do in order to spend more time with your teen.

Dedicate A Day Per Month
One thing you can do is to dedicate one day per month to your teen. No distractions, no other people, just you and your child. Do whatever it is that you both want to do, but from the moment that you are dressed and ready, and for the rest of the day, try to spend that time together. Come up with a plan beforehand in case you need to book anything, so that when the day comes around, you won’t be forced to change your plan.
One day per month might not sound like a lot, but it’s a full day that can have real impact. This is just dedicated time to the two of you.
Do The Chores Together
While this might not sound very fun, it helps to keep the house clean, teaches your teen responsibility, and also makes sure that you have this time together. For example, you could fold the laundry together, clean the kitchen together, and all those other things that neither of you particularly want to do, yet are more tolerable when shared. At the very least, it gives you time to talk.
Even if you are clearing the basement so that the pest control services can come and fumigate the property, you can both enjoy this less than desirable task together by chatting and listening to music.
Family Meals

Finally, try to plan to have at least one meal together per day. It doesn’t matter which one, just pick the one that makes the most sense for all of your schedules. Families are all busy with so many things, but try to make time to eat this one meal per day. At family meals, you can talk about worries, concerns, and just daily life together in a way that feels natural and spontaneous.
To ensure that you have a purposeful and comfortable space to enjoy family meals, you might want to consider how to transform your kitchen into a more modern and usable space. Looking out for Kitchen Design Trends 2022 will help you understand how to achieve this. You can take inspiration for what new features to add, what color scheme to use, and how to repurpose your kitchen to make it more convenient for you and your family.
There are plenty more ideas that you can consider if you either do most of these things already, or you would like to try something a little different. Brainstorm with your teen or just make some suggestions that you think will be appealing. Hopefully, whatever you decide to do will help to bring you and your teen closer.
