Thursday Favorite Things (TFT) Link Party #531

Welcome to the weekly Thursday Favorite Things link party and blog hop! We’re here every Thursday through Saturday. If this is your first time to the party, I’m glad you found us.

I hope you are all well.

It’s been such a sad week, and the war rages on. Seeing the pain and suffering is very overwhelming, and it’s happening, right before our eyes. Prayers for Ukraine.

My blood pressure has been acting very strange and erratic – sometimes normal, sometimes extremely high, since my visit to the ER a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple more tests scheduled, but so far it seems my heart is ok, which is good news. They had to stop the stress test early because my blood pressure went dangerously high, and the cardiologist overseeing the test told me to “get that blood pressure taken care of.” This is all strange to me, as my blood pressure has always been fine. Does this seemingly sudden onset sound familiar to any of you who have high blood pressure?

On a positive note, I’ve been excited that I seem to be overcoming my perfectionistic fear of sharing some of my lettering and art, so I have some projects in the works. I love to create, I’m just often fearful of sharing it. Are any of you like that, too?

Now, on with the party!

  3. Hoping they get to the bottom of your blood pressure soon! It probably causes of cycle of anxiousness leading to more high readings? My pressure is always higher at a doctor’s office, my physician calls it “white coat syndrome.” Can’t tell you how many conversations we’ve had about it. Fortunately, when taking readings at home they are a little higher than desired but not problematic or requiring medication.

    1. Thanks so much for your input, Debbee. I appreciate it very much. My blood pressure was always slightly higher than my usual when I’d first get to the doctor’s appointments, but then he always would take it a second time, and it would be fine. I had a weird sudden spike over 200/110 when I was sitting on my sofa in the morning a few weeks ago, and it has been erratic since then. Some days very high, some almost normal. I can always tell it’s happening because my heart starts to thud. New to me, and very frustrating!

  4. Thanks for hosting, Pam. I’m linked up at 108/109 this week. My Aunt is going through the same thing…sudden onset high blood pressure…still trying to find answers. Praying it all settles down with you and was just a fluke. This getting old stuff ain’t for sissys!!

    1. Hi Julie, That’s interesting that this is happening to your aunt, too. Let me know what they say about hers. Thanks for the prayers. You are definitely right about this old stuff!

  5. Having your BP not be normal is scary, I know. So many things can cause it to fluctuate. Hopefully your doctor will get it figured out for you. Thanks so much for hosting! I’m linking up with #12 LAUGH AND THE WORLD LAUGHS WITH YOU and #13 TODAY IS A GOOD DAY.

  6. Wow, Pam, I am really concerned for you re: your blood pressure – I have issues too from time to time and I know how alarming that can be! Please keep us posted… do you have a monitor at home to track your readings?

Thank you for featuring my basket post this week. Praying that they find out what is causing it and that it stabilizes and that you have a wonderful, stress-free weekend! 🙂

    1. Hi Ramona, Yes, we bought a BP monitor right after the ER visit, so I’ve been checking it here and there. Some days it’s high, some days not. It hasn’t gone as high as the day of the ER visit or the day of the stress test, thankfully! Thank you for your prayers. You’re very welcome for the feature – It has such great ideas for gift baskets. 🙂
