Tokyo Treat Review: Authentic Japanese Snacks
I have something really fun to share with you today. Have you ever heard of Tokyo Treat subscription boxes? I had not, but when I was contacted by a representative of the company and offered one of their Japanese snack boxes, in exchange for sharing it here, I was intrigued.
This post contains affiliate links, which means I will earn a commission if you purchase through them, at no extra cost to you.
I immediately went to the website and got excited. I learned that Tokyo Treat is a Japanese snack subscription box filled with Japan-exclusive snacks, such as limited-edition KitKats and specialty Japanese treats. The boxes are themed and reflect seasonal holidays or Japanese cultural events.
Just the sight of the fun, colorful Japanese candy and treats prompted me to agree to share their subscription boxes with you. What a fun way to explore Japanese snack culture, and who doesn’t love a box full of treats?
I received the box quickly and tore into it. Literally like a kid in a candy store, I had so much fun.
Here’s Some of What Arrived in My Tokyo Treat Subscription Box
A colorful booklet is included that has photos and descriptions of the treats. It also includes photos and tidbits of information about Japan and Japanese culture. There is some information about common allergens and whether or not the treat is suitable for vegetarians, as well.
Given that my favorite food is cake, I tried the Sakura Castella Cake first, of course, and it did not disappoint! Moist, delicious, with a wonderful cherry flavor. I was on a roll.
I tried the Matcha Latte KitKats next. Delicious! It’s a limited edition flavor.
I kept going. (I had to sample the treats before I wrote about them, after all!)
Goodnight Grape Gummies (perfect gummies and pretty too!)
Strawberry Jelly Marshmallow (yum!)
The Springtime Senbei in my box (a tasty rice cracker) has a combo of savory and sweet flavors. Really unusual. I liked it!
There are several more treats I have yet to sample. The quality of the items I have tried so far has been delightful, so I’m anxious to sample more.
This would be a wonderful spring gift for kids or anyone who loves treats and would love a taste of Japan. I can think of so many people who would love this, for so many reasons.
Some Things to Keep in Mind
- Be aware that the subscription is on auto-renewal.
- Also, shipping is not included in the subscription price.
Those two facts are clearly stated on the subscription page, but they are two things worth mentioning.
I haven’t received such fun mail in a long time, and I’m happy to spread the word about this great subscription box. Even if you choose the monthly plan to try just one box or to treat someone, I think it’s well worth it. (You will need to cancel right away after choosing the monthly plan, if you only want one box, as it is on auto renewal.)
It’s a perfect Spring (or anytime) gift!
Thanks so much to Tokyo Treat for providing these fun treats for me.

Yummy my favorite gotta be the kit kat. I so need to try one of these boxes.
They’re really good!
We got to Japantown here and load up on Japanese snacks. This sounds like a great idea for trying out new snacks. Thanks for the review.
