How To Create an Inspiring Environment in Your Home
There’s a reason artists and other creatives like to spend time designing a studio space that caters to them. It’s because creative inspiration is often affected by our environment. A comfortable, stimulating space can make a big difference in our mindset and productivity. There are many ways to create an inspiring environment in your home.

All the love you put into your home, from its design to its utility, can inspire you in various ways.
Maybe you wish to get back into some form of visual art and want a dedicated space in your home for doing so. Or you might want to make your cooking more expressive. In this post, we’ll discuss a few ways to make your home more inspiring.
Focus and Lighting
When a space has a clear purpose and focus, it has an inspirational effect. It invites you in to create and to concentrate on your activity and its goals. Personalizing that space gives it a positive, meaningful atmosphere.
Lighting in a room also has an inspirational effect. Simple things like good home replacement windows or window treatments that let in more light, can completely change how comfortable and inspiring your space feels. Double casement windows, for example, can be the inspiration that you didn’t know you needed. You want great aesthetics, great lighting and the windows are a good place to begin for it.
Visual artists and photographers often notice that north-facing windows give steady light that shows colors accurately and doesn’t fluctuate too much. Writers might like east-facing windows to catch that energizing morning sun, with a small desk set up in that space to enjoy writing or reading, with some coffee. If you like to create art digitally, having the screen face the window wouldn’t be ideal, though, so be sure to give thought to every angle. If you love to do creative things online, making sure you have a good internet connection is important, too. You can carry out an internet speed test if you’re not sure.
Artificial lights are fine, but they rarely give you the same mental boost as sunshine through a window.
Tidy and Maintained
If you’re not feeling at peace in your home, you may not be able to draw the creativity and inspiration you need. Having a tidy space helps with that. Even though creative people can occasionally be disorganized by nature (although not always!), knowing that your home is tidy and effcient can make a world of difference.
This is a good reason to stay on top of your home repairs. If you know that you need a flat roof replacement or other repairs that you’re putting off, it can often be a distraction, especially if the repair impacts the space you are using. When you prioritize repairs, your home will be more secure and comfortable, and you’ll no longer need to worry about the tasks that hang over you.

Privacy & Calm
It’s fair to say that creating often means being vulnerable, A space that is private, where you feel secure lets your mind express itself more freely.
So, you might have blinds on the windows or a set of Custom Plantation Shutters that feel a touch more classic, or perhaps even wear headphones to retreat into your own world, when needed. Morning faith practices like a Bible study time and prayer in a private, quiet space start the day in an inspiring way. Setting up a yoga space in your bedroom could be a way to give yourself a peaceful, private place to stretch and move, without distraction. Keeping the space uncluttered adds to the calm feeling of a room, which helps inspiration, too.

These strategies seem obvious, but we often fall into routines that aren’t the most inspiring. I hope these simple ideas to help you create an inspiring environment in your home will motivate and yes, inspire you!

I do most of my cooking in a busy kitchen, and between the mess and constant interruptions, it can be hard to focus. Having a quiet, dedicated space sounds like a dream — such a great idea!
Thanks so much, Mariama!
Great post! I have a studio in one of our spare rooms upstairs. I absolutely love having a dedicated space just for me and my creative habits, namely painting. I have a peaceful and inviting environment where my focus can be right where I want it to be.
Thanks, Sally! Having that dedicated space really does make a difference, I agree!
Pam, great post! Thank you for sharing it with us at the Crazy Little Lovebirds link party.
Thank you, Steph!
