Random Tuesday

It’s been a while since I posted a random collection of ideas and things I’ve been up to and buying, so I thought I’d share a few of my Amazon finds and random thoughts today. (It’s been a while since I’ve posted about anything, though. I’ve been so entrenched in moving over to WordPress.)

New Journal

Most of you know how much I love journals and pens, but I don’t journal often enough. I’m definitely not lacking in notebooks or journals (stationery addict), I just don’t commit the time. I’m not sure why that happens, but I want to be more committed to it.

I found this pretty faux leather journal on Amazon, and I couldn’t resist it. It was inexpensive and not a big splurge, so I didn’t feel too guilty about buying another journal. I really love it, and I think it was a bargain. It has lovely kraft colored pages, which none of my current journals have.

New Pen

I also picked up another Jinhao fountain pen. These Jinhao pens are very inexpensive and a good value, in my opinion. I put an FPR ultra flex nib in one of mine, and it’s become one of my favorite pens. (I’m not affiliated with FPR, I just love their flex nibs.) The #6 ultra-flex nib fits well on the Jinahao 750, and I don’t even have to replace the feed. (The pen comes with a perfectly fine #6 nib that doesn’t flex, so you don’t have to switch to a flex nib – I’m just currently obsessed with them.)

Weight Loss

I’ve been trying to get out of my food rut, too. I’ve been losing weight with WW, although I tend not to talk about it too much because in the past, I’ve plateaued and given up, but this time, when I reached my plateau after losing 10 pounds, I didn’t give up, and I’ve now lost a total of 15 pounds.

I’ve not reached my goal yet, but I’m feeling encouraged. (I try to remain body positive, but my health was suffering. I was pre-diabetic and without energy, and given my autoimmune issues, I felt like it was now or never.) I want to have a well functioning heart, brain, and blood pressure as I age (and, as my birthday is today, I’m very aware of my advancing age!) I’m not affiliated with WW, but I really need the structure that program provides, and I’m happy to say that my favorite snack is now a sliced red pepper with a smidge of ranch dressing. Plus, eggs are zero points! (I love eggs!)

Snowbird Wishes

Our big snowstorm snow is finally melting, so I’m hoping against hope that this is the last snow we’ll see this year. I’m a snowbird in the making, and if I can get my husband on board, I won’t be spending January and Febuary of my retirement years in Missouri too many more years. The beach is calling my name. (I say “retirement ” with a grain of salt because you all know I”ll be blogging forever… Plus, as my kids say, “Dad always needs a project.”)

I hope you’ve enjoyed my rambling today. Have a great rest of your week!

  1. I like that journal. Good luck on the weight loss. It’s a struggle at times for me. Oh, yes, the beach sounds really good right about now! May I ask why you switched over to WordPress and what was your previous platform? Was it difficult? I have a friend that’s on Blogger who wants to do the same. Thanks so much for linking up at the Unlimited Link Party 71. Pinned.

    1. Yes, the weight loss is one of my biggest challenges! I switched over to WordPress for a few different reasons, but mainly because I didn’t think the SEO on Blogger was quite what I wanted it to be. On WordPress, I use the Yoast plug-in for SEO, and it helps me optimize my posts. Also, there were some coding issues with my Blogger template, and I debated whether to pay the money to have that fixed, or just switch over to WordPress. I debated a bit, but decided to move over to WordPress. Blogger was very easy to use and I was used to it, but I’ve adapted pretty quickly to WordPress, and I love it!

  2. Congratulations on your WW success! I did a post you might be interested in, It’s Not Just About What You Eat, But When You Eat, https://www.delightfulrepast.com/2018/04/intermittent-fasting-168-its-not-just.html — I don’t like to put a link in my comment, so if you delete it I will understand. It works right along with whatever sort of diet a person is on, WW, keto, vegan, whatever. I’ve been doing it for over four years now. Keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you so much, Jean! I will read your post, for sure. I’ve been learning a little bit about intermittent fasting recently, and it really sounds helpful.

  3. Happy Birthday! Congratulations on losing 15 pounds! And thanks for sharing the journal, I put it on my wish list to remember later as a birthday present for my daughter.
